For years Roberto Carlos Silvera Calcerrada, together with his compatriot Martín Vázquez, was considered the numbers two and three referee after Jorge Larrionda.
Until Larrionda retired. Now the CONMEBOL Elite category referee is the most important ref from Uruguay.

FIFA badge
Silvera became international referee in 2003. He has been refereeing in FIFA World Cup preliminaries, and also in very important games of Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. In 2007 and 2008 he took charge of Libertadores semi-finals and in 2006 and 2009 the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final.

Silvera was supposed to appear in the WC U20 in 2007, Canada, but was sent home when he didn't pass the fitness test.
