Thomas Einwaller was a referee since June 1992. He started refereeing in the Austrian Bundesliga in July 2001 and is also active in the Swiss competition. He had his FIFA badge from 2005 until 2012. He was a Premier development category ref.
Between 2005 and 2007 Thomas Einwaller has been taking charge of qualifiers for UEFA Cup and Champions League. From then on he moved further up. First in the UEFA Cup. In 2008 he was put on the 54 member shortlist of candidates for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Then he was selected for the Olympic Games (3rd place play-off) and in September he officiated his first proper Champions League match in the group stage.
Thomas Einwaller never made it to the Elite category.
Until February 2010 Einwaller was on the short list of referees for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. But his name was not on the final list, not being an elite referee he would have never have been more than a stand-by or maybe 4th official.
