Malta, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Far Oer, Anothosis Famagusta, Rabotnicki Kometal, Debreceni VSC, names of some of the teams Slovenian referee Skomina encountered at the start of his international career. But since the 2009/10 season he belongs to the elite category. Two years later he was assigned the CL quarter-final Chelsea vs Benfica.
Summer 2007 Skomina was one of six to officiate at the under 21 European Championships and he was in charge of the final, won by the Netherlands 4-1 against Serbia.
From then on Skomina was assigned to matches with slightly better teams, he got to the round of 32 of the UEFA Cup in 2008. CL round of 16 in 2011
Skomina was also 4th official at EURO 2008.
2008 - 2010
Skomina was selected for the Olympic Games in Beijing, august 2008. He was also on the 54 member shortlist of candidates for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
No more shortlists, Skomina got on the final list for Euro 2012.
Skomina is officiating in the UEFA Champions League.
Again Skomina appeared on the list of (this time) 52 referees for the World Cup.
