Born in 1968 in Bilbao, Eduardo Iturralde Gonzalez was 28 when he refereed his first match in the Spanish Primera Division. He was a Premier Category Referee, just one step behind the elite corps, but at the start of season 2011-2012, the Premier list seems to have disappeared and he was sent back to the 1st Category. A few months later he retired.
The Spaniard started his international career in 1998, leading a Champions League group stage match every year since 2002, but last seen on that level in 2006. From 2007 he was active in the UEFA Cup.
