At the age of 29, Sant is one of the youngest Maltese referees to be awarded the FIFA badge. He started his refereeing career when only 16 years of age and made his debut in Malta's top division in 2004. Sant is a UEFA category 3 referee.

Before Sant enrolled in high school, he registered with the MFA and successfully completed the referee¹s course. His first assignments were limited to youth football but the newcomer soon caught the eye of match inspectors following the progress of new referees.

Soon he was being appointed referee for second and third division matches. At the young age of 24 years old he made his debut in the top division league and soon established himself as one of Malta's top referees.

Before being nominated as a FIFA referee, Sant had a taste of international assignments as he was appointed as fourth official in a number of international matches.
