Mahamed Diab was also a famous player for Zamalek and the Egyptian national team using the name "El Diba".

He took part of three Olympic Tournaments, twice as a player (1948, 1952) and once as an assistant referee (1976). It was Diba who scored all 4 goals in the first African Cup of Nations final won by Egypt against Ethiopia in 1957.
