Albert Dusch was a goalie with Kaiserslautern until 1935. The story goes he got bored during a suspension and started to get interested in refereeing. He was internationally active between 1951 and 1962 and active at two World Cup finals: 1958 and 1962.
Albert Dusch died in 2002.

Dusch was the first German international referee after the war and the first match he officiated at the 1958 World Cup finals was the first ever World Cup match without goals.
His match at the 1962 World Cup was his last, he retired immediately after it.
