
East German born Adolf Prokop took charge of a match in the 1978 and the 1982 World Cup finals and a match in the 1982 European Championships.
Stasi
East-German Secret Police (Stasi) leader Erich Mielke made the Berlin team BFC Dynamo his personal toy and took care it won 10 Championships. He managed it by for instance securing a Stasi affiliated referee to take charge of its matches. It is documented that as a referee, Prokop helped BFC win a match in at least four instances. Prokop went on to become an OibE (Special Stasi Officer). Another referee, Klaus-Dieter Stenzel, who helped BFC Dynamo 5 times, was suspended internationally.
