Born in Riobamba, Samuel Haro has been an international referee from January 2005 until January 2012. One of the Ecuadorians top-refs, Haro has taken charge of games in South-American tournaments and also big matches in the Ecuadorian League.
He was a CONMEBOL category 2 referee.
Clásico de los Astilleros
In March 2008, Haro officiated the biggest match in Ecuador, played between Barcelona from Guayaquil and Emelec, and called "Clásico de los Astilleros". His job there was controversial because of an action: Barcelona scored but, after doubtful seconds, Haro invalidated the goal apparently because Barcelona scorer had used his hand. But previously Haro had made gestures like convalidating it. Barcelona fans said that Emelec pressure against Haro made him to change his decision. The referee denied having done that.
