Born in June 5th 1967, Lunati started refereeing at the age of 18, and arrived to the Argentinian 1st division in 2004. He got his FIFA badge in 2007. At the time of writing, he had refereed more than 120 matches in 1st Division. He says that "refereeing is a nice passion".
Lunati is one of the newest international referees from Argentina, so he hadn´t refereed any big tournament yet. Since his appointment as an international ref., he has taken charge of important matches in the Argentinian league, and also some Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana 1st round games.
When he started in 1st divission, players and sport press criticized Lunati because he was a bit overdramatic when he had to book somebody or concede penalties. The players didn' take to his gestures well. He worked on that and now he looks much more calm refereeing.
He is a CONMEBOL category 2 referee.
