Because Petros Konstantineas was later than usual going to work in his bakery, February 29 2012, he had a narrow escape from a bomb attack. The bomb was placed in an oven and apparently set to go off at 1.20 am. The shop was ruined and several cars and windows in the street were damaged.

tough
Petros Konstantineas, who started as a UEFA category 3 referee in 2012 and looks like a pretty tough guy, told the press he wasn't afraid. Still two months later he retired from refereeing. The Greek referee had received threats before and he had informed the police of them.
This is a nasty business and it made us wonder if Konstantineas is the only Greek referee who received threats, or if he perhaps was the only one who didn't give in.
